Beautiful tapestry sewn by the women of the Rabari ethnic community of Kutch in Northern Gujarat far western India. These women were formerly nomadic herders of cattle, camels and goats and are inspired by mythology and natural world of the desert. Various stitches are used such as: square chain for mirror work, single chain, couching, blanket and herringbone, running and double running. There is a strip of velcro that has been sewn by a previous owner onto the top edge of the back side of the tapestry. Materials: Cotton fabric sewn with cotton thread.
